As global temperatures rise, extreme heat is an increasing risk to both our health and our infrastructure. Austin, TX is an area particularly at risk due to its high summer temperatures. Additionally, specific neighborhoods in Austin such as Airport Boulevard also experience large areas of asphalt and concrete that absorb and hold heat, and a higher population of people with lower incomes who are most at risk of heat-related illnesses.
