Galveston Bay Foundation regularly brings K-12 students to their coastal property for environmental education and stewardship programming. Gulf Coast Design Lab students designed a space to meet their needs and long-term goals.

The steel panels shift from opaque to transparent depending on where you stand, while encouraging coastal breezes to pass through.

The roof provides shade and rain protection for 75 elementary-age students.

The covered space is used for various classroom activities, as a place to eat lunch, or as a place for students who are less comfortable with the outdoors to feel safe and sheltered.

The structure also includes two changing rooms.
